Thank you to the individuals and organizations supporting COVID-19 response efforts. This includes four companies using innovation and determination to improve health and well-being during the pandemic.
LexaGene Conducts COVID-19 Testing Trials at Major U.S. Hospital Laboratory
LexaGene’s rapid pathogen detection analyzer has been placed at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center’s Lab for Clinical Genomics and Advanced Technology (CGAT) in New Hampshire. Designed for point-of-need environments, LexaGene has automated the entire workflow to screen for COVID-19 and other respiratory pathogens. And, it takes less than one minute of hands-on time to initiate sample processing for walk-away testing.
LexaGene’s technology can detect new pathogens and other molecular markers in hours instead of days for food safety, water quality, veterinary diagnostics, and viruses. Learn more here.
Hospitals Disinfect COVID-19 from Surgical Masks & Mobile Devices with ReadyDock
The rapid escalation in COVID-19 cases is causing many healthcare providers to treat patients without the benefit of pandemic-grade personal protective equipment (PPEs). These healthcare providers on the front lines of treatment also need to safeguard against the spread of the coronavirus responsible for COVID-19, which can live on some surfaces for days.
Hospitals are responding by using ReadyDock’s disinfection docking stations to sanitize mobile devices – and to disinfect surgical masks. Read more here.
Biobot Launches COVID-19 Virus Detection via City Wastewater Analysis
To enhance COVID-19 tracking and trending, Biobot Analytics is applying its technology to analyze biological data from sewers to help identify the spread of SARS-CoV-2, the virus causing COVID-19. Due to limited COVID-19 patient testing, many public health officials do not have the data required to respond based on severity.
Biobot’s wastewater analysis can help to increase modeling accuracy without direct interaction with an increasingly strained healthcare system. Biobot analysis provides communities with a dynamic virus map of pandemic changes such as the spread to new areas and a reduction in established hot-spots. Learn more here.
Smart Cups Pivots from ‘Printed Beverage’ Manufacturing to Make Hand Sanitizer
Drink supplier Smart Cups has the unique ability to print any type of beverage flavor inside cups or other surfaces. (Just add water to a disposable Smart Cup to get a high-energy drink in a variety of flavors.)
In the wake of COVID-19, the Calif. company has shifted half of its manufacturing resources to produce hand sanitizer for healthcare workers and first responders throughout Orange County. Smart Cups is also researching how it can apply its “printed beverage” technology to produce hand sanitizer and other supplies for healthcare workers and first responders.
